Olafur Eliasson

Olafur Eliasson (b. 1967, Copenhagen) lives and works between Berlin and Copenhagen. Working across installation, sculpture, photography, drawing, and architectural projects, Eliasson explores how we perceive and relate to the world around us—especially through natural phenomena like light, water, air, and temperature. His immersive, often participatory works foreground embodied experience as a tool for transformation, perception, and collective reflection.

Through both his large-scale public interventions and delicate studio works, Eliasson investigates the interdependencies between humans and their environments, prompting urgent questions around ecology, sustainability, and social responsibility. His practice frequently brings together art, science, and activism, as seen in projects such as Ice Watch and his social enterprise Little Sun.

Eliasson has collaborated with TBA21–Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary on initiatives that align with his long-standing commitment to climate justice, public engagement, and transdisciplinary dialogue.
