The Morning Line is a timeless and unique structure. It is not restricted to any particular time frame, nor to any space; it is an independent form; it travels freely. And everywhere it goes, it carries and communicates the most basic human emotions: love, joy, surprise, anger, sadness, and fear. Erdem Helvacıoğlu’s piece is comprised of six movements, symbolizing and delivering these six basic emotions. A sine wave is a smooth repetitive oscillation. By definition, it is pure, simple, and direct. It has a timeless form of its own. Similar to the sine wave, the unique handmade, futuristic, hybrid electric guitarviol also has a timeless timbral quality that features both the cello and the guitar. The combination of these two timeless forms, and their processed timbres create a soundworld that leads us to The Morning Line.
