Step Ladder Blues shows a painter in a white room ready to paint, who falls every time he climbs the ladder to begin his simple task. Influenced by the slapstick comedy of comedians such as Harold Lloyd and Laurel and Hardy, Land says it is the Sisyphean quality of the tasks - pulling a piano up a flight of stairs, climbing a skyscraper - their characters and his challenge themselves with that fascinates him. If something happens once it may be funny or accidental but if it happens repeatedly then it can take on tragic or cosmic proportions. – Soraya Rodriguez
