Context
With the launch of our new live research program, Meandering, TBA21–Academy expands from the Ocean into rivers, tributaries, springs, streams, alluvial plains, tidal marshes, wetlands, and aquifers, as well as the physical and spiritual water elements that connect all lifeforms. In its first cycle, it speaks from Andalucía’s great river—the Guadalquivir. With the help of Stories, a tentacle of our digital ecosystem, we would be keen to highlight voices from the local community in Córdoba. A Story can be anything from an essay, to an article, a learning resource, fiction or a poem. However, there is no need to feel bound by these formats; we encourage you to express yourself in any way that feels meaningful. All are welcome to storytelling, including you.
Who and what are we looking for
We are looking for writers and storytellers from the province of Córdoba or extended areas around the river Guadalquivir who are interested in local environmental histories, mysticism, folk or current research connected to spiritual, philosophical, and political trajectories of the Guadalquivir, its tributaries and waterways. We would like to invite everything from personal histories and imaginaries, poems, fiction or nonfiction or creative interpretation of scientific research.
Procedure
To apply, please send us a short abstract (up to 100 words) alongside your bio via Google Form until September 30, 2022. After reviewing all applications, selected participants will have 2-3 months to develop the concept into a Story of 600-800 words. The final texts will then be translated and published in Spanish and English and hosted on TBA21–Academy´s digital twin Ocean-Archive.org under Creative Commons license CC BY-NC. This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon your work non-commercially, and although their new works must also acknowledge you and be non-commercial, they don’t have to license their derivative works on the same terms.

Meandering is TBA21–Academy’s new live research program, exploring the possibilities of engaged and contemplative practices and poetics of the imagination for more socially just and ecologically sound worlds. Expanding from the Ocean into rivers, tributaries, springs, streams, alluvial plains, tidal marshes, wetlands, and aquifers, as well as the physical and spiritual water elements that connect all lifeforms, the program anchors TBA21–Academy’s practices and methodologies in dialogue with the environmental and social histories at the heart of the TBA21 collection.
