Allora & Calzadilla is the collaborative duo of Jennifer Allora (b. 1974, Philadelphia, USA) and Guillermo Calzadilla (b. 1971, Havana, Cuba).
Since meeting in Florence in 1995, they have developed a multidisciplinary practice that spans sculpture, performance, video, sound, and photography.
Based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, their work critically engages with themes of history, ecology, and geopolitics.
Their notable project, *Land Mark*, initiated in 1999, addresses the impact of U.S. military presence on the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico.
This series includes works such as *Land Mark (Footprints)* (2001–02) and *Returning a Sound* (2004), exploring the intersections of colonialism, environmental degradation, and resistance.
In 2011, Allora & Calzadilla represented the United States at the 54th Venice Biennale, presenting works that interrogate American militarism and nationalism through performance and installation.
Their works are held in prominent collections, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Tate Modern in London, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
