Angelica evolved from a 2008 recording that Finnbogi Pétursson made in Iceland, just after he first saw the plans for "The Morning Line". The recording was made from inside an angelica plant as an experiment. When he was invited to make the piece, Finnbogi Pétursson decided to use a short, resonant part of the recording from inside the Angelica stalk. It was only then that he began to see the parallels between the plant and the structure, not only in the similarity of their forms but also in the way that each seems to grow bigger every time it spreads its seeds over a new field.
