Ocean-Archive.org’s 2026 Digital Resident Robertina Šebjanič presents her research project Shadows Above My Window_Mislinja 238 km² at the exhibition Wild Waters: In Search of Balance at the Koroška Gallery of Fine Arts (KGLU) in Slovenj Gradec, on view from September 11 until December 3, 2026. The project, developed as a part of Šebjanič’s residency with TBA21–Academy, explores the river as a dynamic ecological system through listening, hydroacoustic research, environmental data, archival materials and local knowledge, connecting environmental processes with human and more-than-human narratives. TBA21–Academy’s Digital Program Director Petra Linhartová and Digital Program Manager Michal Kučerák join two international roundtables accompanying the exhibition, on October 6 at 6 PM at the Koroška Gallery of Fine Arts (KGLU) in Slovenj Gradec, and on October 7 at 6 PM at ZRC SAZU in Ljubljana.

A roundtable accompanying the exhibition Wild Waters: In Search of Balance

Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 6 PM

Location: KGLU, Slovenj Gradec

What can art, science, and the people who live in an environment tell us about it? How are rivers and lakes changing as a result of human interventions and climate change? And how can we observe, document, and understand these changes? The roundtable accompanying the international exhibition Wild Waters: In Search of Balance will bring together artists, researchers, representatives of local communities and volunteer organizations, as well as international cultural and research networks, through concrete examples from Koroška and the wider region.

HYDROCOMMONS / HIDROSKUPNOST

A Roundtable on Art, Science, Water and New Ways of Sensing the Environment

Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 6 PM

Location: Atrium Research Center of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (Atrij ZRC SAZU), Ljubljana

Bringing art and science into conversation with local knowledge, data, and archives, the discussion asks what becomes visible when different ways of knowing meet. What can measurements and data tell us? What do local experiences and memories reveal? And what might we learn from the sounds, traces and behaviors of other living beings? Participants of this roundtable will explore how changes in water are sensed, studied and understood, and consider the disappearance, scarcity, excess and pollution of water, from retreating glaciers and changing river systems to urban water challenges and transformations of aquatic ecosystems.

Participants:
Lučka Kajfež Bogataj, Climatologist and co-recipient of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize (Slovenia)
Petra Linhartová, Digital Program Director TBA21–Academy,  (Austria)
