Join us for the upcoming book launch of Palestine is everywhere at Wendy's Subway in Brooklyn, NY, with Mohammed R. Mhawish and Sarah Aziza, on May 19, 2026, at 7 PM.
Mohammed R. Mhawish is an award-winning writer and journalist from Gaza City. A contributor to The New Yorker and New York Magazine, Mohammed is a fellow at Type Media Center and a contributing reporter to the Palestine Reporting Lab. He is a Knight Press Freedom Fellow at the Craig Newmark School of Journalism in New York. His reporting and essays have appeared in MSNBC, This American Life, The Economist, The Nation, and Al Jazeera English. He is a recipient of several journalism awards, including an Izzy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Independent Media, the James Aronson Award for Social Justice Journalism, the Neal Conan Prize for Excellence in Journalism, and two awards from the Arab and Middle Eastern Journalists Association. In 2025, Mhawish was named Storyteller of the Year by the Institute for Middle East Understanding.
Sarah Aziza (she/ هي ) is a Palestinian American writer, translator, and artist with roots in ‘Ibdis and Deir al-Balah, Gaza. Her work emerges from a confluence of ancestral and contemporary wisdoms, exploring the insurgent possibilities of the fugitive, marginalized, silent, and fragmentary. She is the author of The Hollow Half, winner of the Palestine Book Award and the Anisfield-Wolf Award, and a current finalist for a Lambda Literary Award. Sarah’s work has appeared in The New Yorker, Best American Essays, The Paris Review, The Baffler, Harper's, The Intercept, The Nation, and elsewhere. She has received fellowships from Fulbright, MacDowell, the Pulitzer Center, United States Artists, and the Asian American Writers Workshop among others. She currently lives on unceded Canarsie and Munsee Lenape land where she makes, learns and works towards liberation for Palestine and beyond.
