Nocturnal Walkthroughs: Echoes of the River
Sound creation workshop with huaicoral
16 October – 6 November 2026
The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza and TBA21 Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary present a new edition of their nocturnal walkthroughs, this time featuring a new type of workshop in connection with Seba Calfuqueo’s exhibition CAUTÍN. Through listening, historical counternarrative, and performative action, the activities invite you to walk through the exhibition and see it with fresh eyes while reflecting on the connections between territory, identity, and memory.
Echoes of the River is a collective reflection and sound-making workshop in which huaicoral invites us to explore, through listening, storytelling, instrument-making, and musical improvisation, the relationships that run through the river and political territory of the Cautín and the different worldviews that defend it against extractivist ambitions.
aqnu and Emily Sun are huaicoral, a musical collective that explores fluid sounds, crossing territories and genres in search of radical intimacies. In November 2024, they co-organized RAYMI JIÉ, an art festival to celebrate the intercultural memory of the Usera district of Madrid, with the collaboration of cultural and community groups. In January 2025, they staged the performance ¿Cómo sembrar una palabra? [How to Plant a Word?] at Galería Cruce Contemporáneo, curated by La Llave Colectivo, which explored fractured link languages in diasporic contexts. The collective has also performed at various art and community events, including the Tranny Issues (May 2025) and YYYPUNTOOO (June 2025) festivals and the Fiesta del Año Nuevo Cuir (February 2026).
