Book Presentation: CAUTÍN at Infinito Delicias
With Marina Avia Estrada, Daniela Catrileo and Cristian Vargas Paillahueque
13 November 2026
CAUTÍN (2026), The publication accompanying Seba Calfuqueo’s exhibition at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza takes the Cautín River as a starting point for imagining other ways of relating to nature and territory. It brings together five previously unpublished texts by Marina Avia Estrada, Cristian Vargas Paillahueque, Ximena Cuadra Montoya, Elisa Loncon Antileo and Daniela Catrileo, alongside images from the artist’s research process, exploring the history, Indigenous knowledge and ecological politics surrounding the river. From the colonial legacy to the privatization of water in Chile, the book examines the reciprocal relationships between the waters and those who inhabit them: people, more-than-human entities and spiritual beings.
The presentation brings together Marina Avia Estrada, editor and contributing author, with Daniela Catrileo and Cristian Vargas Paillahueque, each of whom contributed a text to the book.
