Derek Tumala

Derek Tumala is a visual artist based in Manila whose multidisciplinary practice explores the intersections of art, technology, and materiality. Working primarily with emerging technologies, the moving image, and industrial materials and objects, Tumala creates immersive experiences that reflect on contemporary culture, environment, and speculative futures.

He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila in 2006. Since then, he has developed a body of work that spans video art, installation, and collaborative projects, often engaging with scientific and technological themes through a poetic lens.
