A velvet ant, a flower and a bird

Upcoming exhibition at The Potter Museum of Art in Melbourne, Australia

19 February – 6 June 2026

TBA21 supports the new exhibition curated by its associate curator, Professor Dr Chus Martínez—A velvet ant, a flower and a bird—opening on February 19, 2026, at The Potter Museum of Art in Melbourne, Australia.

Drawing from the University of Melbourne’s Classics, Biology, and Art collections, alongside new commissions and performances, the exhibition invites visitors to recognize intelligence as an ever-evolving and interdependent ecosystem. After Liquid Intelligence and Ocean Wants, Martínez continues reimagining intelligence by creating a fantastic mental realm spread over three museum floors as a garden, challenging the human-centric social order in the process.

The exhibition is supported by Pro Helvetia: Swiss Arts Council, Danish Arts Foundation, Swedish Arts Council, Embassy of Spain in Canberra, Oxenford Collection, Institute Art Gender Nature, Basel Academy of Art and Design FHNW and TBA21 Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary.
