On Friday 27 March, from 6 to 9pm, join us for the evening preview of the exhibition Tide of Returns, curated by Khadija von Zinnenburg Carroll and featuring site-specific installations by Repatriates Collective.

Through multimedia works and immersive installations that combine sand, thousands of figures made from shells and fabric, video, and sound, the exhibition project explores the role of art and water in shaping the processes of cultural repatriation.

The event will begin at 6pm with the opening of the exhibition, followed at 6:30pm by From My Mother's Country, a reinterpreted purification ritual led by Noeleen Danjibana Lalara, elder of the indigenous community of Groote Eylandt and lead doll maker, and Annabell Demalmerrangguma Amagula, senior Anindilyakwa artist.

The public will be free to move among the dunes of the installation, experiencing it in an open and immersive way.

After the ritual, Nigerian artist Samson Ogiamien will then present his poetry reading The Moon Says they are in Venice.

On this occasion, the initiative Nature Speaks. Listening for Rights of Nature in Venice and Europe, curated by Pietro Consolandi and Amalia Rossi and hosted in the Research Room, will also open to the public. The project maps the growing Rights of Nature movement through visual investigations, awareness campaigns, and calls to action, highlighting TBA21–Academy's commitment to promoting the protection of ecosystems and biodiversity through innovative artistic and cultural practices.

Free participation with mandatory registration.

Cultural mediators will be available for the duration of the event.

The new exhibition season will be celebrated in the cloister with a convivial moment accompanied by organic Prosecco from Perlage, the technical sponsor of the event.
