Open Call: Become an Oceánico – Help shape the future of our ocean

TBA21–Academy, l’Université de l’Océan (Nice City Council), Le 109 NICE, YouthEU4Ocean, and Botox(s) invite applications for six new members of the TBA21 Ocean Community that will serve as mediators and moderators for the working groups during the OcéanoFuturismos day as part of the Université de l’Océan, a program organized by the City of Nice, taking place at the Centre Universitaire Méditerranéen (C.U.M.) in Nice, on June 4, 2025.

 

In the lead-up to the 3rd UN Ocean Conference (UNOC3), selected applicants will receive exclusive mentoring from leading ocean imagination and advocacy experts, including Eduardo Castillo-Vinuesa (Director, TBA21–Academy), Louise Carver, and other TBA21 mentors. 

 

What’s in it for the Oceánicos:

• Public Engagement: Active role moderating discussions among global participants during the OcéanoFuturismos day.
• Mentorship: Guidance by renowned experts from TBA21–Academy and Radical Ocean Futures.
• Skillset Development: Training in science fiction narratives, imagination-led backcasting, and moderation strategies.
• Global Impact: Be part of a cutting-edge community helping craft visionary, regenerative ocean futures at UNOC3.

 

Who should apply:

We welcome applications from individuals who are:

• Passionate about ocean advocacy, imagination, and storytelling from the arts, sciences, and/or research fields
• Experienced or interested in facilitation, moderation, or collaborative design.
• Committed to inspiring change toward equitable, sustainable ocean futures.
• Between the early and mid-career stages, regardless of disciplinary background.
• Proficient in English and French.
• Available for online trainings on May 27 and 28, and in-person in Nice, France, on June 4.
