Open Call: Become an Oceánico – Help shape the future of our ocean

TBA21–Academy, Le 109 NICE, YouthEU4Ocean, and Botox(s) invite applications for six new members of the TBA21 Ocean Community. In the lead-up to the 3rd UN Ocean Conference (UNOC3), selected applicants will receive exclusive mentoring from leading ocean imagination and advocacy experts, including Eduardo Castillo (Director, TBA21–Academy), Louise Carver, and other TBA21 mentors. 

 

These emerging leaders, the Oceánicos, will serve as mediators and moderators for the working groups during the Ocean Futurisms Assembly at the Université de la Mer (C.U.M.), Nice, France, June 4, 2025.

 

What’s in it for the Oceánicos:

• Mentorship: Tailored guidance by renowned experts from TBA21–Academy and Radical Ocean Futures.
• Leadership Development: Training in imagination-led backcasting, participatory governance, and collective design processes.
• Public Engagement: Active role moderating discussions among global participants during the Ocean Futurisms Assembly.
• Global Impact: Be part of a cutting-edge community helping craft visionary, regenerative ocean futures at UNOC3.

 

Who should apply:

We welcome applications from individuals who are:

• Passionate about ocean advocacy, imagination, and storytelling from the arts, sciences, and/or research fields
• Experienced or interested in facilitation, moderation, or collaborative design.
• Committed to inspiring change toward equitable, sustainable ocean futures.
• Between the early and mid-career stages, regardless of disciplinary background.
• Proficient in English and French.
